What’s in a Writer’s to be Read Pile

Those who love to read and write are often met with a plethora of new reading material. In fact, there is plenty to read on a daily basis if you are willing to look for it. Most of the time I find my newest reading material at a local used bookstore known as Mckay’s – I could seriously spend all day in there. Otherwise, I get lost in the mystery corner of Barnes and Noble or snag deals on Amazon Prime Reading or Amazon First Reads. Regardless of the point of discovery, you can rest assured I have piles of books I am slowly making my way through. Currently, at the beginning of summer 2021, I have a few new mystery books waiting to be cracked open. As I work to create traffic-generating articles of my own, who is lucky enough to land into my current writing inspiration?

My To-Be-Read Pile

  1. Egg Drop Dead by Vivien Chien
  2. Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto
  3. Murder at the Bake Sale by Lee Hollis
  4. The Battered Body by J.B. Stanley
  5. Dying in the Wool by Frances Brody
  6. Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple

I’m seriously in love with the number of Asian authors with mystery novels! The awesome part is that these books aren’t standalone titles, and are typically a part of a series. Chien, for example, has a whole series called The Noodle Shop Mysteries. I have written a review on Egg Drop Dead, which I found to be a thrilling story that does a good job of keeping readers involved.
